History of the football helmet

The leather football helmet was first worn at an army vs navy game in 1893. The leather helmet was created by a shoemaker. In 1896 a college player who feared of getting cauliflower had a special headgear made witch mas made with three leather straps. Helmets were not mandatory until the 1930's. Helmets were so flimsily that they were mistaken as aviator caps. Year by year more padding was added between 1920 to 1940. Schools didn't start putting logos on them until 1948 but in 1950 the leather helmet had faded.
